Suggested Packlist for the Missionary Training School

The following is a list of recommended items for students to bring to the Missionary Training School.
  • Passport and ticket
  • Spending money for souvenir, food, etc. ~$50
  • Small address book with important telephone numbers
  • Pocket dictionary or phrasebook (Spanish)
  • Toiletries (i.e. soap, razor, toothbrush & paste, shampoo, deodorant, sunscreen, etc...)
  • Basic personal medicines in tablet form (i.e. Tylenol, Pepto, Dramamine)
  • Sunglasses and a hat
  • Rain poncho and/or umbrella
  • Bible / 3 notebooks / 1 journal / pens & pencils
  • Watch / alarm
  • Polyester shorts / swimsuit / sleepwear
  • Undergarments
  • Camera / Twice as much film as you think you need if you have a camera that uses film
  • Shirts / pants (hand washable) / skirts
  • Flip-flops or sandals
  • If you have big feet, you might want to bring some rain boots, otherwise, these can be purchased there for about $15.
  • A flashlight with plenty of AA batteries. Larger ones are OK
  • A pack of cigarette lighters (we use a lot of candles)
  • Collapsable chair (not a folding metal chair, but the kind that are common in camping stores that will fold up very small)
  • LOTS of bug spray
  • Bruchko and George Muller autobiographies plus any other books you might want to read during personal times.

Items that are Not Required, but would be a huge blessing to the ministry:
  • Guitar or other musical instruments
  • Tools for misc tasks ranging from boat motor repair to carpentry
  • Missionary biography videos
  • Spanish ministry tools such as tracts, bibles, etc...
  • books and other resources for the training school library
  • equipment for horseback riding (The school has 8 horses and 3 saddles) 

Items Not To Bring:
  • Blue jeans (heavy, hot, slow drying)
  • Drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and firearms
  • Electric appliances (anything with a plug)
  • Electronic games
  • Secular music
  • halter-top or spaghetti strap shirts (please nothing that shows your belly either)
  • female earlobe piercings are OK, other area piercings are considered by the locals to be barbaric and would not be advised
