The Comedor, where meals, training, fellowship and medical care take place under one roof (sometimes all at once).
ACCOMODATIONS
  • Bunks (2-5 people per room)
  • Shower and bathrooms; outhouse for daylight hours to conserve water
  • Large open "porch" as the classroom, cafeteria, and living room
  • Electricity available for lighting after dark if sufficient solar energy; candles frequently used.
  • No electricity is available for personal appliances (e.g. hair dryers, radios, electric razors, etc.)
LAUNDRY: Each person is responsible for their own laundry supplies (detergent, etc.). Laundry is done by hand--bring scrub brush.

FOOD: Meals consist of local staples in keeping with the local culture--beans, rice, cheese, and bananas which is supplemented by a variety of local produce.

WEATHER: A very humid tropical rain forest. Temperature ranges from 70°s to 90°s. Frequent rain showers, often 
with a cooling breeze

COMMUNICATION:
  • Emergency messages only. Occasional access to public telephone, which is expensive!
  • Telephone calls in or out are possible only in an emergency.

These communications can be made in Spanish or English.

TUITION & EXPENSES
  • Tuition, Room & Board and Books: Aproximately $1350 for the 8-week school.  Please contact us for the current costs for your dates.
  • Transportation to and from the mission is your responsibility- This depends on the number of persons arriving at one time. By being in touch with us, we can arrange someone to meet you at the airport.
Other expenses
  • Spending money for snacks and drinks: $20 - 35
  • Extra for souvenirs and/or possible tourism travel (personal choice): $70 - 95
  • Airport exit tax is $26.
